Nothing Left to Give

Even the sun can grow cold

I set myself on fire

To make sure they all stay warm

I’m burning

Turning into a s h e s

While they use my flames to tan

They take what’s left of my heart

And rip it into shreds

Then use the pieces to lie down on

And bask in the rays of my inferno

But now they’ve turned me into their sun

Without consulting Icarus

A lesson they cannot afford to learn

Because I can give them warmth

Let them tan

Give them the happiness they need to f l y

But if they try to take too much

They’ll quickly spiral back down to Earth

But until then

They will lie tanning

And I will lie s h i v e r i n g

They’ve soaked up my warmth and left me to freeze

Because I have nothing left to give.
