I never know what to do

If you’re mad at me

I am mad at me too

*

I’m sorry, I apologize

I didn’t mean to

I didn’t realize

*

Those are terrible examples

Of what to say to you

But I am left baffled

And left without a clue

*

Maybe a kind gesture will suffice

Let’s try

Hopefully it’ll be quite nice

*

Wow, I guess I was wrong

You weren’t even mad all along

***

Have you ever been in a situation when you thought a loved one was mad at you, only to find out they weren’t? I wrote this poem because I thought my husband was mad at me. I worried and worried about it when all I needed to do was ask. He wasn’t mad at all. I felt silly for being concerned so much. I need to remind myself sometimes to not to have anxieties without having any way of knowing. Or in this situation, all I needed to do was ask.
