Not Forever Young

Aging with Dignity

oh how time eroded the perfect moments,

when thoughts are clear,

words have meaning,

life is good.

time is on our side, or is it?

we try but fail to escape effects of time’s continuous purge,

surrendering to the endless erosion of our youth.

we are reeled into the binding grasp of weakening with the passing of time!!

loss of fluidity,

dissolve of control,

time moves on, taking youth with it!!

what remains in the aftermath?

a degenerated state of being, robbed of conscience,

deprived of clear thought,

begging for relief!!

what is left seeks what has left,

forever gone.

only memories remain of what once was in time gone by!

I wrote this one evening after listening to a Seger hit, “Like a Rock”. So much truth in both the song lyrics and my interpretation of them. Thanks for reading. MR
