Not All Men
A Sonnet in Defense of the Male Kind
Not all men are the same, fair maid, I swear,
For in each heart beats a unique desire,
Some seek glory, others love's tender care,
Yet none can quench the flames of passion's fire.
If love has burned thee, do not then assume,
That all men bear the mark of treachery,
For love is but a flame that may consume,
And leave in ashes, hearts once bright and free.
Nay, judge not all by those who came before,
For each man bears a soul both good and bad,
And in the light of truth, let love explore,
The heart that beats within, both happy and sad.
So, let thy heart not be consumed by fear,
For not all men are the same, my dear.
