Nonconformity
To all the divergent, beautiful souls

Red
Angel in the sky
Devil crucified
“You cannot be both, all or none,” they say
Systems state you must be one way, their way
Or suffer the consequences of nonconformity and physically, emotionally and psychologically pay.
Whiteness
Decided for us
At a young age
By colonial systems and institutions
From blank slates
To binary, capitalist bate
Force-fed a white, ableist and heteronormative script
Groomed, shaped and assimilated
Until our bodies reject the poison and feel downright sick and ailing.
Black and Brown
Wings clipped off at birth
One body after another
Until we desperately try to fly
To only be gunned down to rot, stationed in a purchased lot.
Systemically just another number into a grave
Since it costs more to die than it does to be saved.
Orange, yellow and green
My nonconformity is bisexual, poly and non-binary
Whatever your nonconformity may be
You are beautiful and valid
And should be protected at all costs against the alt-right chaos.
Jeez, there have been too many lives lost
At the mercy of socially constructed binaries and corrupted elitist bots
Prioritizing economics before its tots.
With each chiming, violet voice
Mass-producing collective noise
Institutions will be forced to listen
As we, the true colours, are in charge of this backwards caste system.
My differing and empowering shades are my refusal to conform
It is the fuel to empower change
Watch me, again and again
Break out of the norm
*Breathe*
And face the sadistic, neocolonial storm.
