Nobody sees the holes on the walls,

Fist marks on the doors and broken handles.

Confused why my body tenses up when

He’s around. Mistaken for jealousy,

When I’m face to face with an abuser.

Nobody seems to understand the fear,

They think you can snap out of it with

A click of the fingers and expect some

Unicorns descended from space to

saddle their magic and make it go away.

Nobody seems to know the message:

If a maggot enters a peach or a fig

Without permission it’s a crime called grape

I know there is someone that will validate me

A special someone to guide me out the swamp

And pick the right unicorn for the best ride home.
