No Offense

Walk It Off

By Earl W. PearlPublished 2 years ago 1 min read

I’m comfortable in my own skin

So words can’t take me down

My skin has never been so thin

That we can’t joke around

For me it’s quite mysterious

Why everything offends

But if, my friend, you’re serious

I likely need new friends

Tho sticks and stones may break my bones

Mere words just sell you out

If speaking with offensive tones

That says what YOU’RE about

We’re all entitled to our views

I never take offense

Let people live the way they choose

That’s still the best defense

Can simple words kill like a gun

Or cause a crowd to flee

So why would I allow someone

Such power over me

Now, if you lean towards “butt-hurt”

Today you can rejoice

Cos now you know, so don’t revert

“Offense” is just a choice
