There were forests once

Around these mountains

Where tigers prowled

Hunting game and people

When grandmothers

Spun stories to tame fear

Or scare children safe

A jungle of appartments now

Rise tall where

trees once

Dropped light on

Sun dappled stripes

The city hasn’t seen

for a hundred years.

Their home, now caged

Behind zoos

For generations to see

What their tigers

could have been

Wild. Dangerous.

Free.
