When I Say No…

When I say no, it’s not yes.

It’s not maybe. It’s not I’ll think about it.

It’s no.

Do not try to beg,

Or cajole.

Or pretend you didn’t hear me – because we both know you did!

Don’t try to bribe me,

Or make me feel like I owe you because you were nice to me.

Or God forbid bought me dinner.

I owe you nothing!

If you bought me a meal – thank you. I hope we both enjoyed the food and the company.

But I don’t owe you anything more than a thank you.

Don’t try some sob story about who left you or how long it has been.

We all have one – and I don’t care.

And DO NOT BULLY ME.

NO! Means no.

You will not shame me,

Or shout me into it,

By Photo Boards on Unsplash

Or hit me into it.

You will not abuse me into it!

You will not threaten me or someone I love.

No means no.

That doesn’t mean that I might not change my mind -

But should that happen,

I would tell you loud and clear.

I would rescind my no.

I will say yes,

But until then

NO means NO!
