no matter what i say, lay your head on me

a random thought during a tender quotidian moment

there will be a time

when i don't feel the weight

of your love

on my knee

on my shoulder

the top of my head

something that annoys me sometimes

yet it will be the thing i miss the most

and wishing i could feel again

***

I was scribbling away in my notebook when my sweet dog laid her head on my leg, watching with her comically big brown eyes. Something she's done a thousand times and will do a thousand times after. It annoys me sometimes, meaning I get annoyed that I get distracted by her cuteness, but I never want her to stop. It got me thinking of the little things that others do to me I'll miss when they leave, either by moving away or dying, like how a sibling might tease you incessantly or a friend plays with the review mirrors in your car.

So as much as I say I hate it, keep doing it to remind me you're still around.
