Nine meals from Anarchy
An inevitable end to the parade

Once upon a time
In a time long, long, ago
When we lived by an accepted system
Of, as far as we knew were correct and sure,
Laws of the universe and common nature
Laid out by man made rules and idealism
Of a command given by a higher power
Which required a certain code of behavior.
One Blink of an unsuspecting eye later
And all the rules took wings and flew away
On wings of forced acceptance of society's ennui
And boredom, in the face of a frivolity needing
An outlet and platform from whence it can be heard
Shouting of new ways concocted by the mass
To march to new and different parades each day.
Acceptance or rejection of the many parades
Surely is an individual right of passage.
What were once kept secreted behind locked doors
Are now parades for all to savor, disregard or decline
Blatant flouting of sexuality and preferences are now
The accepted norm, no more hiding under a bushel.
Society is proud of the new changes in humankind.
Still, are we not getting more angry and violent
As, again, I reiterate, we take one step forward
And two steps backward in our approach to life.
We will accept alternative human behavior
Matters not the consequence,
But not the alternative to speak of praying to
A higher power for guidance and peace.
So. Are we nine meals from anarchy?
Are we set for implosion or explosion of ourselves,
For after our last nine meals and our tempers
And our fuses have woefully and finally
Reached their ultimate breaking point
We will turn on each other
Hungrily searching for that tenth meal
So to sustain a life a little longer
In pursuit of the usual existence for our need
Of a world that we are slowly and surely
Bringing to a literal and figurative
BOILING POINT!
After our parades of changes and revolutions
What Then?
Maybe a new beginning, after the many parades
Is just what the universe's doctor has ordered.
