Dreams in the Dark

hello darkness my old friend,

when will this nightmare ever end?

during the dozing sequence of the brain,

dreams take hold of life again,

sweet dreams they were,

in days of past,

now sweetness dissolved,

how long can it last?

I awaken and scream,

“the dream is done”,

only to realize, it has just begun!

sleepless nights are now the norm,

tossing and turning, my brain starts to squirm,

now drenched in darkness,

I turn to my friend, asking will you please deliver the end?

take yourself into the dawn,

be replaced with the light of day,

where the dreams of darkness, are whisked away!

Took first line fromSounds of Silence as you may well know, was posting some songs on FB and when this one started, that first line struck the poetic nerve, and words quivered thru the keyboard, hope you all enjoyed.

If even continued to match the rhythm of the song for a couple of lines 😁 “Now Drenched in darkness” was such a great line!!
