He stood beside me on a ledge

In a place I didn’t know

The dark sky touching both sides of a verdant canyon.

——

Below the ledge I saw sharp rocks that I imagined were marshmallows

He used deep hooks to attach strings to my arms

I felt pain and relief until he pulled hard and caused more anguish and doubt

Then, once he was done, he pushed

And I fell

Screaming a weak cry that woke you

Wow... this seems very self reflective. Perhaps you are seeing a part of your soul in the mirror. Sometimes we fear our most dark places because they remind us of the path we are on. It takes he who is the light to show up and take what you claimed as yours and in that moment of panic you see your reflection. Perhaps they are your own hooks that you felt.

Whoa… this gave me chills! The “screaming a weak cry that woke you” hits so tenderly too.

A nightmare? I am curious about who he could be.
