New You

Internal transformation

By K.B. Silver Published 5 months ago 2 min read

You feel a trembling to your core

Forcing you on to do your all

Suddenly feeling there must be more

That you must strive to be brand new

Somehow reveal what’s deep inside you

˗ˏˋ ★ ˎˊ˗

First, you must travel deep inside

Find what there within resides

Put yourself through every test

Until great pieces shift and bust

The worst will fall, crumble to dust

But you will be left standing.

˗ˏˋ ★ ˎˊ˗

The shaking steadily grows

As you delve deeper, ever knowing

There is pain in discovering the real you

It will be far less

Than never seeing yourself

To the top of your potential

˗ˏˋ ★ ˎˊ˗

While those around

Run to ground, hiding in fear

You stay the course

You’ve decided

Nothing can stop your transformation

˗ˏˋ ★ ˎˊ˗

The spires within explode

Setting fire to those exposed

When smoke and fear cloud up outside

Dig in deep, steady inside

You may feel you’ve lost your stride

All you need is purpose

˗ˏˋ ★ ˎˊ˗

A new you, expanding on what’s always been

Remake the halls, excite the mind

Finally arrived, but cannot see

What the journey was all for

Though a change can be perceived

A light shining in pitch black

A new you!

˗ˏˋ ★ ˎˊ˗

Never surrender, lacking hope

As the Earth rises, into it you fall

The ground barely felt

Yet there you lay without help

˗ˏˋ ★ ˎˊ˗

It’s all a matter of perspective

Like running down a corridor

Does it really have a tiny door?

Free your mind from this place and time

You can only accomplish what you’ve tried

˗ˏˋ ★ ˎˊ˗

Love impels you to keep on growing

To renew the life outwardly showing

As you try to match your inward thoughts

To the projection others flaunt

Maybe you really are new to you, too

I wrote this while listening to Pink Floyd's Hey You. I think you can hear the rhythm in the words. I am always listening to music, or occasionally, I have a comfort show I don't have to watch on in the background. What I'm writing isn't always influenced by the music. In this case, it was.

The first stanza removed the curtain that was covering or hiding my vulnerability. What is that... am I now learning the way of strength and perseverance... A promise that I will be the one left standing. Boy do I know this feeling, from before. The pain of discovering the real me. Sometimes I do a bit of a peak, then I run away. 'You can only accomplish what you have tried' okay!!! I am going to shoot to the moon, everything will work out just fine. Especially after reading such a moving — selfless inspiring piece. Written for the reader, giving guidance. A well needed one if I might add. Oh no you don't. I won't allow this line to bring me tears. I can't do it, 'maybe you really are new to you, too' maybe I am or will be. I loved this, it's healing 🙏🏾🤗❤️
