New Direction

Dear Resentment,

I hope this letter finds you well, but not too well

Because I believe that your time here must come to an end

It has come to my attention that you no longer fit the culture

I would say that it was a pleasure having you

That we are simply going in different directions

That you served some sort of purpose

That your promotion into management wasn’t a mistake

And that your ability to fire others without remorse was needed

But I would be lying

Truth be told, I have always disliked you

I never wanted you at this company

I certainly never wanted you in a place of authority

But I was out voted for some reason

When choosing between you and Forgiveness

The vote tilted in your favor and I didn’t understand

Ah, but now I do. Cheating is simply your nature, isn’t it?

You dug your claws into their minds and whispered lies

That you had their best interests at heart

That you would guard them against the “bad people”

That the hole could be filled with something synthetic

And that you would shoulder the mistakes

But you haven’t done any of that, have you?

You’ve only made the company weaker

Exhausting every single employee

Trying to keep up with your demands and your schemes

The time has come that we let you go completely

And make things right, after all this time

We made a huge mistake during the last promotion

I certainly appreciate that you have not left entirely

Please, please consider taking the position that was meant for you

We have fired Resentment and would love to offer you the job

You are what this company needs to move forward

Your ability to listen is so valuable

Your ability to heal and make things work is desperately needed

We now realize that simply firing people is detrimental

That actually pouring into them and allowing them to grow is beneficial

And you are perfect at that

We were tricked into believing the lies

That we needed to kick them out and not teach

We need you in this next phase of the company

We need your ability to help grow and cultivate

So please, Forgiveness

Please accept this position
