New Age Poor

Motto, creed, what have you...

Why to marry a poor girl...we don't need $800 shoes. We're happy with the $30 ones at Walmart. Or the ones on Wish dot com or SheIn are divine.

The dollar store or Amazon are the household anthem, especially with Prime.

We can fix anything with duct tape.

We can turn Kraft dinner into a gourmet meal with ketchup and canned ham and twinkies for cake.

We can beg or borrow or are well-buddy-welfare bound but know we'll get by.

We juggle, we shift, we jiggle, we gift, we know exactly what we want and multi-tasking we're born with.

We are not the gold-diggers - for that you have to start from a station in life. We know hard times, and why to stick around. What's money, not everything.

We don't worry about our hair getting mussed up when we fool around.

We worship our partner because we know that together we stand, divided we fall.

How poor girls survive...we're masters at do-it-yourself anything, make-up, hair and nails - salons not required.

We support each other's businesses, workloads or spare time, because we know what goes around comes around and all in good time.

We don't need drivers on a dime. We can walk if we want to, ride our brooms or spread our wings and fly.

No one owns us but we can still say pretty please.

We're the homeless, the minimum wagers, the widows, the ones buried in debt and working poor, the single moms, the mom with mates, the ones with no one.

Mental health is a prerogative to keep us down and we all know with enough love there is nothing really wrong with anyone.

We share breast milk, and no one blinks an eye.

Poverty, as temporary or long-standing we know better days are ahead because we have hope.

We know how to defend ourselves - Me Too Movement What.

Why poor girls' rock...divas are not welcome and are a thing of the past, no snobs allowed - we are nice.

We don't need a night out, we can entertain ourselves with scrabble, old magazines, or a paper and pencil.

We enjoy the luxuries of camping or a hot bath.

We're realistic in the decline of the middle class. Maybe we weren't always poor and snobs can kiss our a**

At some time in life someone had it in for us and we've been outright scammed, knocked down or put down but don't think for that reason you can come back around because our army is sweet.

We don't steal or cheat our friends and if you do, you're not in.

We have a network across the globe and if our boyfriend or girlfriend cheats we post it so everyone knows.

We know sympathy and how with it the heart grows.

We value mind.

We have opinions and are loud about them.

We are intelligent and because no one believes it we have a greater advantage.

We don't wear ball gowns in the afternoon - in fact, we don't wear them at all.

We know that daydreaming is at the top of the To Do List because it's the only thing that will get us out of our mess.

We don't sell our souls and are not ashamed to say we're poor.

We know that Heaven has a higher price to pay for and mind our words carefully.

Empathy is a natural art.

We know how to say No.

We know how to say Yes in kindness.

We do not judge in the face of hope.

We know we are not a discarded part of the human race. We are alive and this is part of our human experience, and we are proud.

If you don't understand any of this, then you don't belong.

We know peace and good tidings, raise our head and no matter how we sound, sing our own song.

This got stolen from me twice, but since I have hand-written notes here's the third finger to ya. Considering the context of the writing I hope the thief someday knows the spiritual meaning of Fall.

This made my heart sing. There is no shame in the struggle so long as you hold your head high and do good around you. Screw those who look down at others due to monetary differences. They'll break after three steps in our shoes. As for the ones who stole your work, may they never find what they are looking for until they release what was never theirs.

Hell to the yes! Love this. This line made me lol "We can walk if we want to, ride our brooms or spread our wings and fly."

  • Very strong poem! Love this sentence a lot: We juggle, we shift, we jiggle, we gift, we know exactly what we want and multi-tasking we're born with. There are some great sounds associations! Thanks for sharing!
