Names Worn Away

We pass where none return

Stone cracked

by time

No date

no voice

Boot prints

long erased

Grass sways

over bones

Each morning

brings light

They sleep

through it

No flags

no hymns

Only earth

and wind

Children pass

without looking

Mothers still

feel it

A name

forgotten here

A story

never told

They fought

then vanished

Not even

a whisper

Still we

stand here

Each visit

a promise

That silence

will remember

That dust

will carry

Their weight

forever

heartbreak
