My Vows

You know how to quench the thirst of my heart

You feed it such delicacies that it never knew

You’ve changed my palate in so many ways

But the one thing I crave daily is you

I can feel your love pumping through my veins

You have a special way

Of resuscitating my heart

That I’ve become a symphony orchestra

And for you alone, I will passionately play

I cannot look at you and not feel gratitude

With every breath, I inhale you

And just as with the wind,

I feel you filling up my lungs

just as you tickle every hair on my skin

You teach me how to appreciate art

And I have become your personal canvas

You paint some beautiful images

From colors that we create

You transform me

Into your own version of da Vinci’s Mona Lisa

Because a smile is plastered on my face

Every time you hold me in your arms

I feel the sun

Bathing us in its golden rays

Mother nature’s way of sealing our union

She knows that’s the place where I feel safe

The way you electrify my soul when we make love

You take your time tasting your favorite meal

Salivating at the looks of it like a forbidden fruit

Impatiently waiting to dive in and feast

With your skin pressed up against mine

I hold my breath until you force me to breathe

We practice weft face weaving

While seductively creating

Our very own intimate tapestry

With you, I am finally beginning to live

You’ve showed me a love that makes me brave

With all the happiness and set-backs we have had

You still choose me

Even the times when I didn’t love you back

I want you to know

I am marrying you in person
