My thoughts are not always true

Plagued by self-defeating thoughts, but I know that they are not always true

By Katherine GliddenPublished 2 years ago 1 min read

“My brain’s got a loose screw”

I think to myself, every day…

But my thoughts are not always true.

I beat myself black and blue

Over everything that I did, or didn’t say…

My brain’s got a loose screw.

Most days, I feel like I don’t have a single clue.

“Man, I am just the dumbest person today…”

But my thoughts are not always true.

I keep aiming for a revelation, a breakthrough,

But my thoughts always tend to stray;

My brain’s got a loose screw.

The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few;

“No one needs you, you should just fade away…”

But my thoughts are not always true.

Maybe I don’t know what to do;

My thoughts try to bring me down every day.

My brain’s got a loose screw,

But my thoughts are not always true.
