My Sweetheart
Sleeping Beauty
My sweetheart lies in bed
Her blonde hair spread out over her silk pillowcase.
What will she dream tonight?
I wish her Akhal Teke horses, golden in the sun
Playing chase with them, loving them,
I wish her dreams of dog friends, old and new,
And in this world where dreams are true,
I wish her health, legs that run, arms that reach,
To touch and stroke and love and dance
And be all she can be.
