My Sun

A Love Poem

I once saw a boy covered in black

Mysterious, no smile, eyes so sad

Had I known now what I didn’t know then

I would’ve held his hand so life wasn’t bad

20 years later in the mist of my darkness

A hero shows up to ease my pain

He’s covered in colors; eyes golden brown

He shines like the sun. Puts out the rain

He calls me beautiful and a treasure

Hugs me tight and loves my eyes

The only time I cry

Is when we say our goodbyes

He knows my secrets; loves me still

Holds my heart at night to ease my cry

Squeezes me tight so I have his warmth

To say I don’t love him would be a lie

A boy once dark; now full of light

Finding him I know I won

In my heart forever he stays

I’ll never regret finding my sun
