MY SCI FI

by Cleve Taylor

My, my Sci Fi on the tube

What is it to be today?

Fish people with ray guns?

A scientist run amok?

Planets with tendrilled beasts to slay?

Or perhaps a utopia

In a galaxy we have never seen

Free of war, of crime, of hunger, or want

A place at once peaceful and pristeen

Or maybe a visiting alien

A visitor who lives within our midst

A replicate of your teacher or the kid across the street

His purpose unknown,

You can be sure of this.

Or maybe just a cuddly fur ball

Who grants you your every wish

Really great for show and tell

You can make all your friends famous and rich.

Remember that yesterday's fiction is today's science

And the fiction of today, the science of years to come.

But for now we must do the dishes.

Not to worry, there will always be re-runs!
