My Own Worst Enemy

By Julie O'Hara - Author, Poet and Spiritual WarriorPublished about 11 hours ago 1 min read

[Verse]

Woke up to the storm in my head

Spinning tales of the living and the dead

Am I walking the path that’s divine

Or tangled in shadows that ain’t mine

[Verse 2]

Every mirror screams back my name

Is it truth or a cruel little game

Suffering writes lines on my face

Am I the demon I’m trying to erase

[Chorus]

Is it God calling or the devil’s disguise

Am I climbing or falling through the lies

Tearing my heart just to feel it beat

Am I my own worst enemy on repeat

[Verse 3]

Hands tied tight by invisible chains

Seeking meaning in the endless pain

Whispered voices tugging at my soul

Which one’s lying which one makes me whole

[Bridge]

Tremble between faith and despair

Do I rise or dissolve into thin air

Questions burn but answers hide

A war of worlds raging inside

[Chorus]

Is it God calling or the devil’s disguise

Am I climbing or falling through the lies

Tearing my heart just to feel it beat

Am I my own worst enemy on repeat
