MY MOTHER

I Once Had a Mother

May God bless her resting place

I loved her deeply,

and cherished her always,

for she was my mother,

and I was her son.

She was my refuge,

with her warm embrace,

my healer in times of pain.

She was my mother—

I opened my eyes to the light of her face;

no face or eyes ever held such compassion for me as hers.

No one pampered me before her hands did,

and her lullabies still echo in my ears.

The world seemed to draw near at my feet

when I succeeded and kissed her feet,

and peace would envelop me

from the gentle touch of her hands.

When I remember her,

my body shivers, and my heart trembles,

for I no longer see her.

She left, taking with her the heart that loved her—

my father, my guardian, my protector.

They taught us love and respect,

how she would give her soul for those who adored her.

My father, her beloved, the one captivated by her spirit,

taught me that no one could replace a loving wife—

a mother, a partner, a beloved like no other.

When I return from my travels, I begin by kneeling at her feet,

kissing them, her hands, her cheeks, to seek her blessing.

Her lips would smile, her eyes would shine,

revealing the joy within her,

and I would live in the paradise of her contentment,

in calmness and peace,

within the fragrance of her satisfaction.

For she is my mother, and there is no other mother.

She was my companion in solitude,

with her voice, her advice, her song.

In my hardships, I sought her shelter and her prayers,

and in my joy, no one else stood by me.

She is my mother—

I grew from a child to a young man under her skies.

She taught me to be an engineer, a writer, a poet,

though she knew no language but love.

How could it be otherwise when she is my mother,

wise by nature, blessed by God’s approval.

A heartfelt salute to the one who fills my heart—

may every prayer be for your forgiveness and grace,

and may you dwell in a paradise of divine acceptance,

in everlasting peace, in a heaven of comfort that pleases you.

  • TO YOU, my friend and my reader, believe me, I love you all, and for that reason I wrote words to my mother and all the mothers who are still with us , filling us with happiness , or who came before us. I do not know whether my words conveyed my feelings or not, so I hope you honor me with your comment
