‘MY MAKEUP (I'M PUTTING IT BACK ON TODAY)
A POEM BY
CHRISTINA M RICHARDS
(Don’t let the name fool you, many men have a woman’s name!)
‘My Makeup’
I’m going to put my makeup back on today,
Unpack it all and blow the dust away.
Be a man that makes his own way,
That’s why I’m putting my makeup on today!
I don’t care about what you all say,
And I certainly do not care what you do.
I’ll be me; you be you,
My makeup is about me and has nothing to do with you!
If you do not like it well look away,
Who said you where good enough to look at me anyway?
There’s plenty of boring people for you to see,
There all like you, not different, not proud like me.
I want to paint my face, not yours,
I’ve been told we should be express less but I’m not a fool or someone who bores,
To this I disagree,
Mate, ask yourself how good you would look in my lippy?
I guess it’s a bit like skin,
Where you have to be the right colour to fit in.
Mussels and colour,
Fit together, how about you ask THE TWIN!
And just to finish my rant,
I wont stop, why would I? I can’t.
To put on make up is not a lie,
It’s about freedom and celebrates the difference between you and I!
