My Luck Ran Out On You
Wonderland Challenge Day 11 "Cards"
I was dealt a losing hand
From the start
But always believed
Luck was earned
Not ingrained
Happenstance, just that
I was caught in
A run of lost pots
Could happen to anyone
It often does
Life's a pain
No matter your lot
๐พ๐๐ฑ
The difference lies
Not in severity
Nor frequency
Of misfortunes and flops
But the buy-in limit
At the door
๐พ๐๐ฑ
High-stakes players
Are rolling
For salaries
Not pennies
Their pay-in a pittance
In the grand scheme
Of financial ability
Any losses
Discharged from
Their want
Not weekly groceries
๐พ๐๐ฑ
Knowing the rules of the game
Seeing the other table
Doesn't get you a seat
It only makes keeping your
Eye on the ace harder
๐พ๐๐ฑ
Because the rest of us
Wrestle
Monty on the
Corner
For three cards
And a dollar
Hoping to suss the secrets
Of the universe
And make it home
Having recouped
Our devastating payout
