My Love
You refused to give up
My love for you is something
That even I don’t understand,
I never thought I feel this way
For another man.
***
I had closed my heart
From previous pain,
Determined
Never to love again.
***
Somehow you wormed
Your way inside,
Found my heart
That I’d tried to hide.
***
I tried to ignore
But you refused to take no,
I pushed you away
You refused to go.
***
I finally gave in
You thawed my heart,
I didn’t stand a chance
From the start.
***
So yes it’s here
And here to stay,
My love grows stronger
Day by day.
***
I’ve loved before
A lot like this,
And where’s it lead
To wedded bliss.

About the Creator
Colleen Millsteed
My first love is poetry — it’s like a desperate need to write, to free up space in my mind, to escape the constant noise in my head. Most of the time the poems write themselves — I’m just the conduit holding the metaphorical pen.
