My Love Letter

From Me, AKA You.

My love letter to myself would start with something wise.

Like,

"No matter how much everyone says they love peaches, you don't have to be a peach.

Life will go on.

And if you choose to be a peach,

Someone will still say they hate peaches, offended.

But life will go on."

And followed by something comforting, like a gentle rub on the back in a hug. A squeeze that says "I'm here." as my shoulder gets wetter and wetter.

It is okay to not know, to feel big feelings and have shaking hands when the world bears its teeth and snarls.

But you're smart enough to know that the world is fragile;

It only wants to protect itself.

Not seeing how you are just as new to this place.

Soon though, the hostile thing will soften.

When the time comes, you'll peek out your shell and outstretch your dreams

Like the widest, greatest, warmest yawn you've ever needed.

And in that release, it'll realise your potential.

The similarities between the snail-trails of your palms and the rivets and cracks of a peach seed.

You need to be fostered and travelled, and so you are carried, graciously

Because the seeds who know the world help the world understand them.

Enough to be loved,

Treasured

But when the world knows you've found the right place to rest

You are let down, spirit alight, and can know yourself

Not eventually; but totally.

Unkept edges fraying into the soil

Yet the smiles and steady heart rate coming easier than before.

My love letter to myself would be quirky, such am I.

The themes would be plain and simple -

They'd be weathered such as gritty, rough wholemeal bread

That had survived the test of time

With love.

And most notably, I'd end it sentimentally;

"From Me;

AKA You. "
