My Guide to the Federal Election
A Poem?
Note: this is a little poem written over our upcoming election up north, and a little introduction to how things work here. And it will also meet a requirement for a challenge posted recently (see below):
Say what you will about my country:
We enjoy our freedom and the land we love.
And you, dear friends, all and sundry,
Should know your neighbours up above.

Fools, dimwits, and morons,
All taking us down with them.
Another grand federal election…
Who should we choose? Ahem…
*
The Liberals will spend our money.
The New Democrats will make us poor.
The Greens will speak and sound funny.
The Conservatives will show us the door.
*
It is a game we all play.
Even as we all hear
Of liars and clowns along the way,
And voters who have something to fear.
*

Political Sixteen
Note: in Canada, with our parliamentary system of government, the current leader of the ruling party has contacted the governor general to call for an election, and I realized that I had another subject for a haiku in my series until I finish up some longer pieces. Should the age be lowered to 16 in my country? It is the age of consent, so...why not?

None of the parties have our best interests at the root of their campaigns. It's all just on the surface, to get elected
Yeah, so far that sounds pretty much the same as here, Kendall. I'd give you a "lol" but quite honestly it just hurts too much & I wanna cry.
Clowns sums it up pretty well. Loved your poem!
It's sad that it is a two party system. As you said it's clowns. You vote for the lesser of two evils or vote independent for right to b@@@@
Its the other way around here in the United States. It’s the conservatives that are making us poor by driving up our national debt and deficit with major major tax breaks for the wealthy . While it is the Democrats that are working for the middle class to ensure that we do get our fair shake at part of that so-called American dream.
