My Greatest Heartbreak

June 21st

Almost a month away now

I would have been holding you in my arms

Hearing you cry for the first time

Feeling your tiny hand gripping onto my finger

Smelling the sweet scent on your little head

Memorizing all of your precious features

Do you look like me?

Do you look like your daddy?

Checking on you every few seconds,

Making sure I can hear your little breaths

In complete awe of all the wonder in your eyes

Dreaming of how it would have felt to hold you close to my heart

I never thought I could feel so much love and pain all at once

But saying goodbye to you before I could actually meet you

Will always be my greatest heartbreak.
