My first and only daughter
Brings so much joy and laughter
I had her when I was twenty-three
When I was young, independent and free.
No one said it would be easy
And it would be a simple responsibility.
Unplanned, it changed myself
Unprepared, I tried my best.
With countless struggles and tears
We were able to overcome thirteen years.
Looking back, I would never change anything
Because I know she is themost precious gift.
My once self-centered old self
Turned into a selfless mother.
With my first and only daughter
My life became so much better
My world started to grow
With lots of red, orange andyellow
And all the colors of the rainbow
Each year, the colored candles we blow
Everything and everyone's love we owe
From above who guided us all along
And never made me feel I was wrong
For raising my first and only child
And for the path anddirection I choose to take and glide.
