My Child
The one and only perfect part of my life

My Child
I watched you sleep beneath the fading light,
your small chest rising with each fragile breath.
The world feels heavy beyond these walls,
and I wonder if I will ever protect you enough.
Your laughter once filled every corner,
a brightness that pushed shadows from the room.
Now silence comes too quickly, too cold,
leaving me to face the fear that hides in tomorrow.
I want to hold you against the dark,
shield your innocence from all that is cruel.
I am only human, flawed and trembling,
and sometimes love itself cannot save.
Whispered prayers fill the quiet night,
seeking strength I do not always feel.
Your small hands guide me through my fear,
your presence the only truth I hold.

Children are our future whether we are single or married. We must teach and learn from them. Good work.
