My Body

A poem

My body…

is a toy.

is an object.

something to stare at.

wink at.

play with.

It’s not mine.

It’s sexualized…

by men.

by women.

by the media.

by all.

My body…

is for someone to touch.

to fuck.

to have their way with.

If I cover my body up…

I’m labeled

a prude.

a virgin.

no fun.

If I show off my body

I’m called

a whore.

a slut.

vain.

My body is not mine.

It’s for men…

to touch.

to caress.

to make love to.

For them…

to show off.

to mark up.

to tear apart.

My body…

belongs to everyone,

except me.

Society says:

I have no control.

I dress to please others.

I shave to please others.

My hair…

My makeup…

To please all but myself.

My stretchmarks are disgusting.

My scars are too.

Just because...

my body is here to please others.

my body is not mine.

It’s yours.
