My attempt at a Santa story

by Sam Harty

By ᔕᗩᗰ ᕼᗩᖇTYPublished about a year ago 1 min read

I will be the first to admit, I have problems writing about Nature, Animals and pretty soft whimsical things. I write of loss, love, depression and such intensely deep emo type things. So here's an attempt:

__________________________

I thought I heard a strange sound

so I went outside to look around

The air was cold yet crisp and clean

I like the refreshing feel that the

winter brings.

--

The ground was covered in crystal shards

all throughout my street and yard.

The trees they glisten in the night

I took a big breath in and it gave

me a sense that everything in my

life would be alright.

--

There it was, that sound again,

I heard it and it was like a faint

jingle and like a silly little girl

I found myself hoping that it would be

Santa aka Kris Kringle.

--

I walked all the way around the house

but I saw nothing at all, just a roof

and 4 walls. I was getting cold so

I went back inside and when I did

I was suddenly shocked and surprised!

--

There were presents by my tree and

on the table cookies and milk and

I admit for a minute I felt some

guilt. It should have been me leaving

Santa a snack, I wondered how I could

ever pay him back.

--

Then all of sudden I heard a faint whisper

in the night saying, "Merry Christmas,

don't worry, this year you did alright!"

Hey Sam, are you on the Discord app that Vocal uses? If yes, can you find me and friend me. It’s a great way to collaborate and share story ideas.

Very nice Sam. Whimsical and sweet. Just need to decide whether or not you are going freestyle or following a rhyming scheme. This kind of fell into, both and it was a bit jarring. Keep up,the muscle flexing. Your stories are great. 🤗

It's always a wonderful feat to stretch ourselves in writing. You did a great job flexing your soft, whimsical side. My favorite lines were "The ground was covered in crystal shards / all throughout my street and yard."
