Muted Cries

an outer war fought within

War cries deep within my mind

Surfacing the battle, begging to confine

Them versus me

A family, what they see

Boundaries snapped beyond repair

Expectations of success accumulate despair

Stripped of value, as if anyone cared

Experiencing reality, consistently compared

Life is a journey, set to be free

Amazing adventures, happiness as the prize

Respect must be earned, never just given

Why, then, am I the one left unforgiven?
