Mute swan, alone today
your partner a bank away?
The mallards are coming
Drake begins running
He and his girl
Slide by in a whirl
The next group follow
not wanting to wallow
Soon they’ve all passed
Cygnet wasn’t aghast
He was busy eating
while they were beating
a fast retreat to open water
looking for their own fodder
This happened today and the video is here:

We have swans on our local lake. I love to go there
Beautiful swan photo and rhyming poem!
We now have large generational flocks of mallards that people feed. Our winters are warming so that helps a bit but their food supply is greatly changed and abbreviated. All the swans are gone now. They are so so beautiful. Nice writing. Makes me feel spring is coming
Oh, I love swans. I was upset when I walked by a few in a park here and saw some trying to swim...without water. The pond was dry. The custodian got a shelling from me.
Loved the whimsy in your poem, Andi! Watching your inspiration play out in the video was a delight as well!
That was so sweet. Loved the video.
Lovely poem about a beautiful bird.
Aw this is lovely, though they didn't get a mention in my latest 😁🦢🦆
Idk, what kind of personal issues these things have with me.. I never get along with them 🥱😩😆
Hehehehhee I wanna swim with them! Loved your poem!
Such a keen observation, Andi! I love swans, used to have one as a friend.
This poem flows with a gentle, lively rhythm, capturing a serene yet dynamic moment in nature. The interplay of the swan and mallards is delightful, and the imagery of their movements brings the scene to life. It’s such a charming slice of the day!✨😊
Great poem and fantastic video accompaniment!!
This is so beautiful! I loved seeing the waterfall.
