Mud in My Eyes

water in my veins

I've been told my fat body was sculpted

from mud so I had to believe that it magically

would become a dainty flower if I just

followed the right diet

took the right pill

drank the right tea

never understanding that I was

a lotus flower

not trusting in its own unfolding

and the murky waters was society

pressing its opinions on me
