Mother Moon

A poem about healing, by Helen Kwiecien

Mother Moon caresses

Your tear-strewn cheeks with her beams,

Sends gentle waves to foam

At your toes, the soft sand

A reminder that you are safe, supported, seen.

Mother Moon shines

Hope into your wide eyes with her light,

Turning what was dismal to

A dancing star in each eye, transforming

Forsaken to reborn on the shore.

Mother Moon illuminates

The bay, now still and reflective:

A mirror to show you what is divine.

Her ivory fingers stroke your face,

And she whispers, "You are perfect to me."

Mother Moon embraces

You as you dream, anxiously reliving troubled times,

Bathing the blankets in gentleness,

While your broken heart

Slowly starts to mend beneath.

You have a lot of great poetic techniques being utilized in this piece--I particularly like the alliteration and euphony used. My favorite section is: "Sends gentle waves to foam // At your toes, the soft sand // A reminder that you are safe, supported, seen." If you are open to critique, I am happy to provide minor comments and suggestions should you like. I shouted out your poem on my (currently uneventful) twitter. Hopefully it'll get you at least one or two more reads: https://twitter.com/Corvus_/status/1552273946397007878?s=20&t=5OHzQ0hD492m4ukdLELoQg
