Mother Gaia

Poem

By BHUMIPublished about 8 hours ago 1 min read

My sweet Mother Gaia, you hear me.

I am sure that

you have me in your heart.

Your large icarian wings

are not made of wax.

They are braided with tamata (votives)

And prayers.

Inside the world's

wet alleys you searched for me.

With the smile of the mother.

With the advice of the old woman.

I was not finding consolation and a goal.

My mute soul

filled with hope by the laughter of the child.

Of your own [child] and those of the world.

Your image is a signpost.

Always bright.

Hold me tightly because I want.

To come closer to me.

To the face [person] that you see.

Clean of egoism and "want."

Ekphrastic

💖This poem is truly striking; I could feel a sense of reverence from the very first line. Your love for Mother Gaia is palpable, especially through your use of Assonance which gives the verses a warm, melodic quality.
