Mother Earth Deserves Our Representation

Mother Earth is our home

In all her mysteries with vast biosphere and ecosystems

Biologically diverse

Physiologically varied

Mother Earth

Is this you that has been so degraded and abused?

Scorched by wildfires

Parched by droughts

Beaten and Battered by Hurricanes and Tornadoes

We need to protect Mother Earth in all her mysteries and variedness

With all her defects and affects

Earth affords us all we call home

From the beauty, we see around us

To the wastelands that exist all about, continuously growing and expanding

Mother Earth is home, so why not defend her with all our might?

Hurricanes, Tornadoes, Wildfires, Anticyclones

Increasing dramatically, tenaciously

Fueled by our interactions and interventions and pontifications around how we should coexist with Mother Earth

Yet the naysayers continue to say, Nay, Nay, It is all a Hoax

No such thing as climate change

Some acknowledge its existence but are between and betwixt in their actions.

Do they not see?

The changing panorama before us?

Obfuscation and repudiation are their maxims

Blinded by greediness and egocentricity

Playing to the gallery publicly

Revealing their true nature privately

Enough, I say

It is time to fight for our home

No extraterrestrial life is coming to do it for us

Mother Earth is a representation of all of us

She is home, my home, our home

She represents our holidays, from Christmas to Hanukkah to Eid Kabir

She represents the space to breathe and Be after a hard day

She represents my partner making pancakes on a Saturday morning

She represents my son jumping in his trampoline

She represents my daughter playing and dancing with her bubble machine

In all her representations, Mother Earth provides a home for us all

Isn't it time we represent her as well?
