Mosaic of Me

Discovery of myself through my favorite color.

The mosaic of me is tinted shades of green.

Inspired by the many influences I’ve encountered through my take on life,

And sure to be inspired by many more as I continue onward.

Shadings of dark, deep greens are in the mosaic of me

A green that is the same likeness of the spinach that I used to watch Popeye eat.

His muscles grew and he saved the day, that’s when I decided that green is strong

Like my shadings of dark, deep greens I am strong

Resembling the oak tree, I stand tall and resilient against all

And much like Popeye’s spinach, I have a special iron defense against the worrying or troubling.

The mosaic of me is highlighted with shades of green

I find beauty in my most natural state, as my natural state reminds me of mother nature herself.

Soft, pretty greens are in the mosaic of me

Because when I first learned to regard myself in the mirror with kindness instead of critique

The first feature I ever nurtured with fondness was my eyes.

My eyes, a light shade of green that matched my birthstone of May

This is when I decided that green is kindness and green is love,

Reminding me to always wear sage-colored lenses, so that myself and others are seen as green.

The mosaic of me has different hues of green

Aloe, pine, mint, and fern, no green is stranger to me because I’ve given them all a chance.

I bought plants in hopes that my thumb would be green like the rest of me,

Unfortunately, they all wilted away within a week.

But that’s alright because I learned that green is fun and new, even in an experience that feels alien to me.

The mosaic of me, once upon a time, used to be simple and hardly a mosaic at all

But just like Earth, who is dimpled with each new life, my mosaic expands with my experiences

The mosaic of me is painted wildly with all forms of green.
