exactly as she (it) is.
Let me be
intimate with
Reality.
Let me be free of
fantasy--
fantasmagorical
aberrations
of my imaginary
imaginings—
my imposerous cravings,
dreams and hopes—
my need-- raw and unbridled.
Let me mate today—be one with—
it takes such gall to ask! —
rock-practical awareness of
things as they truly are,
JESUS.

The Last Flame invited writers to sit with endings, using fire as a central image to consider what remains when something burns out: ash, warmth, memory, silence, or the faint promise of what comes next.
