Moonlight Densetsu

love from a distance

Dear Moon,

*

I think I’ve waited

a long time

to write to you.

*

You’ve been there

every night,

steady and unchanged,

but I’ve kept quiet,

as if you weren’t speaking.

*

Still,

*

I know you’ve seen everything—

people crossing oceans,

people falling in love,

people crying when they thought they were alone.

*

I know you saw

the same happen

to me.

*

I don’t have

anything grand

to give you,

no gossip or stories.

*

Just this:

*

I notice you.

*

I look for you,

even on nights

when it's impossible

to find you.

*

Somehow,

*

it matters

that you’re

always there,

that you keep showing up,

even when I don’t.

*

So,

*

tonight,

*

I’m finally

answering back.

*

Thank you

for waiting.

*

Forever yours,

the one at the window.

"The one at the window" I love that line. Such a sweet poem.

The moon and the sun are our friends when one thinks that there are no others. Good job.

  • Awww, the moon would be so touched by this. Loved your poem!
