Moon's Lullaby

when she spoke to me

i had always dreamed

of sapphire eyes

and pale skin of snow

sun soaked golden locks

i did not possess

hid in the shadows

so that i could reside

in my world of darkness

to hide the eyes of oak

and ebony hair

bestowed on me at birth

but the moon, she held me

in my sorrow

taught me of beauty

beyond colours

of the richness in a soul

that cultivates

all the shades

of a human

that lie beyond the complexion

my skin does not make me

my hair does not break me

when my heart is made of gold

inspirational
