There was a people full of fear and fright,

Forever scared of what they could not see;

What crawls in dark or lurks unseen in night.

Afraid of everything they shouldn’t be.

They met to talk and ponder o'er their fate.

How could they spare themselves from tears and screams?

The only action was to separate

From these; the shadows shattering their dreams.

They built a tow’ring wall; a great stone tomb

No gate, no door, no way inside the town

No monster, beast, nor demon of the gloom,

Nor any soul at all, could tear it down.

One detail seemed forgotten in their pride

Now nothing can save them from the monsters inside
