I don't want to be a money machine

I want you to help me follow my dreams

Society, it seems, has lost the American Dream.

I don't want to be a money machine

To me it doesn't really make sense

To count my value with dollars and cents

I don't want to be a money machine

Only loved when I have money, assuming that I can

Make a dollar sign appear, with the flick of my hand

I don't want to be a money machine,

Always bearing the brunt of the blame

For not having any, and feeling the shame.

I don't want to be a money machine

I don't want to measure my life in numbers;

I want to measure it by helping others.
