Mobile Learning

Liam was a smart and curious nine-year-old, but for the last few months, his best friend was his mobile phone. The first thing he would do in the morning was pick up the mobile, watch videos before going to school and stare at the screen before going to bed at night.

His parents tried to explain it many times, but Liam always said, “Just five more minutes…” which never ended.

One night when he put the mobile under his pillow and went to sleep, something magical happened. The screen of the mobile started glowing in light blue and a tiny voice came, “Liam, wake up… It’s me, James, your mobile!”

Liam was shocked but instead of getting scared, he became curious. The mobile said, “Today I want to show you what I am doing in your life.”

James showed him a dream. Liam saw that he was locked in a dark room – no friends, no games, no sunlight, no laughter. Just the screen and the same video. Gradually his eyes became tired, head became heavy, and mind became sad.

The next moment, James showed another scene – Liam was playing in the park with his friends, riding a bicycle, reading books and listening to stories with his parents.

James's voice came, "I am your friend, but if you stay too attached to me, I will take you away from the world. The real world is as beautiful as it appears on my screen – maybe even more."

Aarav woke up as soon as it was morning. He got up and ran straight outside, blinked his eyes in the sunlight and smiled. Today he decided – mobile will now be used only for studies and when needed.

He took out books, went to play in the park and decorated his old toys again. Mom and Dad were also surprised and happy. Now the mobile was just a tool, not his world.

Moral: Technology is a part of our life, but it is important to use it limitedly and wisely. It is important to show children the beauty of real life beyond mobile.
