Misty Eye and Lullabies
Your embrace is my home

Blinding lights and the aroma of popcorn,
Childhood wonders printed along the walls of our surroundings,
You caught my eye as I walked by,
And I was caught in that moment.
We were kids last we met,
Now young adults searching for purpose,
Not knowing what could come of this,
These feelings felt like a circus.
Your braided pigtails and soft easy eyes,
Your slight smirk of surprise,
You were shocked like I was,
but those feelings told no lies.
From that point forward I couldn't stop thinking,
Of your smile, of your memory, of your presence,
My heart thumping and my mind racing,
Was this love? Or was it remembrance?
It took 3 weeks for us to speak,
You made the first move and my knees grew weak,
It became the flame igniting past feelings,
That began the start of my hearts healing.
Eight more years of confusion and lies,
but I could see the truth through your misty eyes,
Each time you cried from the abuse of others embrace,
Every time I would help you fight the fears you faced.
Never expressing our feelings and hiding the truth,
We hid from each other fighting the urge to give in,
like we did so long ago in our youth,
we were told our love would be nothing but sin.
We held hands and laughed at the rules,
We fought the darkness and found the light,
We would shine brighter then diamonds or jewels,
We were outlaws, never fleeing the fight.
Then one day we embraced each other,
Not afraid to express our feelings for one another,
Lighting the night on fire as we shared our heat,
Your misty eyes and lullaby made me feel complete.
