The wind blew hot wind

Hotter than the sun rays

Just shinin on the crops

No birds chirping in this air

I swear for Lawd this air is hotter than a fryin pan

Girl, go on and move out of my chair for I can sit

These bones too old

You finish ya chores yet

Well bring me, my glasses

It's on the nightstand

Next to my bible

And bring a glass of water for me and Mrs. Cheryl

Now don't take all-day

These bones is old

It sure is hot

Ain't it

I'm bout to sweat out my curls

Just got it done on Tuesday

I need these curls for Sunday

You know how pastor be

Um, who that up there

You see it, right?

Or em I going blind

It's right there

Just standin like a midnight shadow

These eyes getting old

Oh Lawd

Chile wait a minute

Is that Lily up there

Again

(Laughs)

You know Lily, Darlean's youngest

The one I said prettier than the rest of her sistahs

But Lawd knows not the smartest

Hav mercy on her Lawd

That dress jus about to blow off her skin

Oh, help her Lawd

You heard about her mamma and the deacon, right?

Oh Lawd, I tell you later

Don't forget to remind me

You know how you be

About time

Almost forgot about you

Well hand it to me

Was my glasses on the nightstand like I said

Oh, ok thank you, baby

Yas Lawd

It's too hot to be standin still

Ain't it

Poor baby

Hope she don't wait all day

Bless her heart

Lily just be sittin on that hilltop

Waiting on her Mistah

Lawd knows it couldn't be me

But did you hear?

-NO

Well I done heard

Mistah never kissed her

-NO

Yass Cheryl

BELIEVE IT

Quite as kept

He neva kissed the girl

Just dissed her

For another Mister

-NOOOO

YAS CHERYL

WHERE YOU BEEN?

WHO DON'T KNOW

But you didn't hear it from me

(Laughs)

Excuse me little miss take ya self in the house

And stay out of grown folks business

And bring me and Mrs. Cheryl some pie and my knitting from yesterday

Cause Lawd knows

It's gonna be a long day
