Mist

Come, Go

By Rowan Finley Published 6 years ago 1 min read

Come into this world gasping for new air.

Go out of this world panting for a final breath.

Come into this world with nothing except hopes for what's to come.

Go out of this world with nothing except faded memories.

Come into this world wrapped in adorable flesh.

Go out of this world bound in decaying bones.

Come into this world by patiently waiting, waiting to dive into the world.

Go out of this world by longing to just dive away and be free.

Come into this world; it is quite an awkward occurrence.

Go out of this world; it is quite a shock and surprise.

Come into this world to the sound of rejoicing and celebration.

Go out of this world to the sound of morning and grief.

Come into this world after long months of cramped fetal position.

Go out of this world after dreary days of fatigued fetal position.

Come into this world not knowing a thing.

Go out of this world wishing you knew less.

Come into this world with great labor in great love.

Go out of this world with laboring sighs in final contentment.

The mist rode in on impressive ocean waves.

Just as quickly, the mist departed, lifting high up into the afternoon sky.

Did this one just roll in like fog, or did you sit and craft it with intention? That last line is chef’s kiss—so simple, yet so powerful!
